Apple iPad - Delete Text Messages

Here's how to delete text messages from your iPad.

The following steps also apply to sending via iMessage.® When a message is sent, the message type is indicated by differing colors.

From a Home screen on your Apple® iPad®, tap

Messages

Do one of the following:

To delete an entire conversation:

Tap

Edit

(upper-left) then tap

Select Messages

Select the desired conversation(s).

Selected when a checkmark is present.

Tap

Delete

To conifrm, tap

To delete a message:

Tap the appropriate conversation.

Touch and hold a message.

Tap

Delete Message

To delete recently deleted messages:

Only available on iPads running on iPadOS 16.1 or later.

Conversations show the days remaining before deletion. After that time, messages will be permanently deleted.
